Disaster Recovery Assessment (DRP)

Update: August 5th, 2011

What is Disaster Recovery Assessment (DRP)?Disaster Recovery Assessment (DRP)

Every organization is dependent upon technological resources for its survival and should have a comprehensive Business Continuity Plan (BCP) in place to ensure the sustained viability of the organization when unforeseen emergencies take place. BCP will help the organization to determine how to recover and which procedure to use (DR).

Plans & Practice

Plans on paper are good practice but if not tested on the field won’t bring any benefit to any organization therefore the final stage of each plan should be concluded by testing each plan for different scenarios of Hardware and site location failures every quarter so BCP and DRP are actually work and can provide protection.

Assessment Scope

√ Mapping Critical Applications
√ UPS presence and configuration
√ Backup & Restore Policy
√ Procedures, such as patch management
√ Hardware configuration i.e Server memory, Hard Drive configuration such as RAID
√ Hard Drive partitioning
√ VMware infrastructure configuration
